Images of Transportation and Vehicle Horror + ONE BIG CHALLENGE!

Hey, more meme! The latest joyous challenge amidst the blog world has been asked of me by both Christine of Fascination with Fear (BEWARE - The music WILL surprise you!) and Emily C. of The Quest to Watch Every Movie Ever (the most ambitious blog of all-time?), two of my favorite blogs around.

The challenge, which I've chose to accept, is to capture images that relate to a certain theme in horror. In my case, since it was a Christine that first challenged me, I thought of a shiny red car. And then, I thought of more vehicles in horror - the kind of planes, trains, automobiles, spaceships, boats, carts, carriages, and more that transported the horror of their films from place to place. So, here's a collection of images of the methods of transportation in which evil resides, which I captured from a few DVDs.

AND HERE'S THE BEST PART! (No, I didn't call the pizza dude.) I'm not telling you what I took them from! You get to guess what movies they come from in the comments below! Some are easy! Some are harder! Some are great movies! Some are awful! Consider this a one-time-only tribute to Kindertrauma Funhouse!

  1. These are going to haunt me in my sleep! I KNOW I know more of them but I underestimated how hard it would be to identify a movie by a single image, heh.

    I'll start with:

    7 - Nightmare On Elm Street 1
    9 - Jeepers Creepers
    15 - Evil Dead

    Yes? No? Idiocy? lol

We're more than halfway done! First set of clues:

#1 is from a remake. #3 is from a film that is not primarily horror, but based on a horror story. #4 features one of the horror genre's favorite villains. #5 appears to be a very small vehicle. #6 contains most of the film's working title.

  11. #8 and #10 occur on the same continent.

  15. MORE CLUES!
I'm guessing there probably aren't many people out there who have seen #21, #32, and #38...though I have recently heard one blogger commenting on that last one via twitter.

#16 is taken a few seconds before the film's title comes on screen. #18 is one of the most loved movies ever. #19 is based on a Stephen King story. #22 is from a film whose title ends in Dead. #23 is from a famed director who made a couple of horror classics, but isn't really a horror film.

    37. Ghost Ship

LOTS OF CLUES time! Gonna reveal all the answers later tonight.

#1 - As already noted, has to do with Dracula, and is a remake of a German film.
#3 - "Young"er than you might think. Based on a famous horror story. Not necessarily a horror film.
#5 - Is a very small vehicle. The film's heroine went on to become a star on a long running TV show, and is now trying to be a bigtime movie star.
#16 - It's a train. A famous scream queen stars in this movie.
#21 - Pretty obscure '70s horror with a memorably sleazy title. I wonder what kind of characters would decorate their car like that?
#23 - Directed by a "master" who made a couple of great horror films during his storied career. The survivors of this ship are the stars of the movie.
#30 - Remade for American audiences with a popular young TV star in the lead. This plane appears in a memorable final scene.
#31 - The semi on the right of the frame isn't important. The other two vehicles contain the two main male characters and the unseen villain.
#32 - The most obscure movie on the list, a DTV piece of crap from the mid '90s. Mostly, I wanted to laugh at that silly frilly bikini. Part of the title is the title of a James Cameron film.
#35 - One of the most beloved cult horrors of the '70s, and has an infamous modern remake. The plane is only featured in the opening credits of the film.
#38 - Awful '80s horror film in which the passengers onboard the train are observed by two super powers. A public domain horror, too.

  23. 3. Young Frankenstein
    16. I never saw it, but is that Terror Train movie with Jamie Lee Curtis?
    35. Wicker Man

  24. #23 is Lifeboat?

I missed you giving out all these hints I'm sad.

And we're down to the last few!

    2. CHUD
    3. Young Frankenstein
    4. Jason X
    6. Snakes on a Plane
    7. Nightmare on Elm Street
    8. The Blob ('58)

    28. Dracula
    29. Who Can Kill a Child?
    33. Duel
    34. Trick 'r Treat
    35. The Wicker Man
    36. Halloween
    37. Ghost Ship

#1 - Was made by an eclectic director/star duo.
#5 - Spawned 5 sequels, and took its series to some unlikely settings.
#21 - Has a sleazy title based on the characters, but also a devilish title.
#30 - One of the most beloved Asian horrors.
#31 - Not necessarily horror. Owes a lot of its success to #33.
#32 - Features the alternate title "Plankton".
#38 - The "Train" is part of the title. Widely considered one of the worst '80s horror films.

Hopefully these will give them away. I've teased way too long.

  26. Doh! I see it now! 5 is Leprechaun. Right?

32 has got to be something with Abyss in the title. Only James Cameron move that makes sense!

I give up on the others, I'm at a loss!
